Anouk is a big Caucasian Shepherd Dog mix, we dragged out of kill shelter Utinja just before euthanasia. He was extremely traumatized, it seems like he didn’t get anything good from human in his life. His place in Utinja was a small wooden box from which he was rarely come out. His bear bones under tangled hair are the result of his fear of fighting for food. This is how he was surviving for months with 3 more male dogs. He was the submissive one.
When Anouk first came to us, we were afraid for him because it seemed unlikely that he would be able to trust a man, to be happy or learn that human hands are made for cuddling. We were hoping that someday he will be able to enjoy because his bowl is full with food, his sleeping place is clean and every day is filled with walks and cuddling. And it really happened! With much effort with our volunteer Goran, Anouk became another dog, playful, happy and cheerfully spoiled. He is so happy when he sees Goran, he calls him to play, kisses him and can’t get enough cuddling with him. Our big boy loves food; cans or pieces of meat and salami are his favourite. Then he act like a little, happy child . Anouk is happiest when he is outiside the box. He is cheerful when he sees other dogs, then he jumps on a soft grass with his big paws. He also accepted the rest of us. He is not aggressive, he is only afraid of the touch of unknown people. With a bit of gentle words and with snack in your pocket, everyone can be his friend. Anouk has so much to learn in his life, he has to learn to walk on the leash and believe that no one will ever do anything bad to him. But he already goes along this path with his teacher Goran.
Anouk has about 32 kilos. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Thank you Anke Wallbruch, Tanja Lichtenstern and Anita Sossalla for sponsoring Anouk! 🙂
